About

Dr. Zhou Zhidong is a highly accomplished clinician and researcher at the National Neuroscience Institute (NNI), where he serves as a Principal Investigator and Clinician Scientist. He graduated as a medical doctor in 1991 and underwent five years of postgraduate clinical training in internal medicine. Dr. Zhou later pursued his PhD and postdoctoral training in Parkinson’s Disease (PD) research at the National University of Singapore in 2003.

Currently, he is a regular Assistant Professor in the Neuroscience and Behavioral Disorders (NBD) department at Duke-NUS Medical School. As a principal investigator, he leads research funded by prestigious organizations such as NMRC, SHF, and Duke-NUS grants. Dr. Zhou’s interdisciplinary expertise spans medicine, biochemistry, biophysics, and translational neuroscience, positioning him as a leader in neurodegenerative disease research.

His lab focuses on exploring the molecular pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Parkinson’s Disease, with an emphasis on identifying novel therapeutic targets and biomarkers. Dr. Zhou’s work aims to improve the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of these debilitating conditions, making significant contributions to the field of translational neuroscience.
