Cell and Developmental Biology
Cell and developmental biology examine how living organisms grow from single cells to complex multicellular creatures. It studies how cells are particularly divided, grow, and mature into specialized types—like those that build tissues and organs. The field also focuses on how cells interact with each other and their surroundings, guiding the formation of organs and body structures. Knowing that cells follow the instructions to build tissues and react to changes, scientists gain vital insights into development, diseases, and potential treatments. Understanding these basic processes helps us to make better treatments and overall health improves how cells develop and what happens when things go wrong.
