Cerebral Aneurysm
A cerebral aneurysm is a weak, bulging spot in a blood vessel in the brain. It resembles a balloon filled with blood. Over time, the blood vessel wall can be very thin, and the aneurysm can burst. It causes brain bleeding, which is very severe and can be a threat to life.
Many people do not know that they have a aneurysm because small ones often do not cause any symptoms. However, if it grows or burst, a person may feel a strong headache, blurred vision, pain behind the eyes, or trouble in speaking.
If the Aneurysm burst, it causes sudden, severe headache, often described as a “worst headache”. It can also cause vomiting, unconsciousness or seizures. It is a medical emergency and requires quick treatment.
Doctors can get aneurysm by using brain scans such as MRI or CT. Treatment involves surgery or placing a coil inside the blood vessel to prevent bleeding. Controlling hypertension and avoiding smoking reduces risk. Top of Form
