Cognitive psychology
Cognitive psychology is the scientific studies of how mental processes such as thinking, learning, memory and understanding guide human behavior. It focuses on internal operations such as problems-solution, decision making, language acquisition, logic and perception. Cognitive psychologists find out how people and even other species get, acquire, interpret and use information. They connect these mental processes with brain structure and function, checking how different fields interact to support cognition. By observing the behavior in both experimental and natural settings, they want to highlight the sequence and organization of mental processes. This knowledge helps improve learning strategies, informs treatment for cognitive disorders, and creates principles that suggest how and why people think or act the way they do.
