Concussion
Concussion is a mild form of painful brain injury due to a sudden jolt or collision to the head or body. This can interrupt brain function both physically and mentally – from minutes to weeks or longer. Common signs include headache, dizziness, sleep problems, memory and concentration issues, poor coordination, blurred vision, nausea, ears ringing and slow thinking. Recovery begins with immediate comfort – returning to normal activity too soon can risk further harm. For athletes, the “Return to Play” guidelines help ensure a safe, gradual return in their game. Prevention is also important: helmets and mouth guards, safety rules and proper techniques such as protective gears help in low risk. The session highlights both the ways to heal the brain and prevent concussions in the first place.
