Developmental psychology

Developmental psychology describes the ways in which humans develop and transform throughout their lives from prenatal stages through childhood, adolescence, adulthood and old age. In this session, attention is drawn to cognitive abilities, social behavior and personality differences, focusing on interaction between persons and their physical, social and cultural world. The effects of genetics, family, community, media and demographical changes on psychological development are underlined by research. An important perspective is also included, checking how privilege, strength, gender, breed and socio -economic condition shapes human development. By combining traditional principles with modern social insight, developmental psychology provides valuable applications for education, clinical practice, social welfare and policy-making. The purpose of this session is to deepen the understanding of human ability and promote interventions supporting flexibility, equality and lifelong welfare.
