Electroencephalography (EEG) Conference

Home/ Scientific Sessions / Electroencephalography (EEG) Conference

Electroncephalography (EEG) is a test that measures the electrical activity of the brain without any surgery. A small sensor called an electrode is placed on the skull to take brainwaves -tiny electrical signals – then show them on a monitor as a wave pattern. Various waves tell us about the state of the brain: alpha waves (8–12 Hz) often means rest or daylight, while beta waves (13-30 Hz) focus active thinking and focus. EEG is widely used to detect seizures, epilepsy, brain tumors, dementia and sleep disorders and monitoring of brain activity after a stroke. Because it is non-invasive and painless, EEG is a safe and useful way to understand brain health and guide diagnosis and treatment.
