Experimental psychology
Experimental psychology studies the fundamental processes of cognition, emotion and behavior through scientific and evidence-based means. The research is carried out through two approaches: laboratory studies, in which variables are tested under controlled circumstances, and field studies, in which behavior is studied in real -class environments. Methods like psychometrics, neuroimaging, behavioral analysis and signal detection theory are commonly employed to gather accurate data. The main goal is to correctly describe the behavior and make a strong theory to explain why behaviours occur. Insight from practical psychology, supports the understanding and treatment of psychological disorders, helps designing effective intervention, and provides solutions for both personal and social challenges. This session highlights its role as a foundation to pursue psychology through replicable research.
