Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a medical imaging method that uses strong magnetic fields and radio waves to create detailed pictures inside the body without surgery. This non-invasive and painless technology is valued to see structures such as the brain, spine, joints, organs, and soft tissues. The MRI scanner contains a powerful magnet and special coil that send and receive signals, which are later processed in images. Usually working on the magnetic strength of 0.5 to 3.0 Tesla, MRI can produce both clear physical images and functional images. When extended with opposite agents, MRI helps to detect blood flow, oxygen levels and metabolism – for significant insight into conditions such as stroke and metabolic disorders. Overall, MRI is an essential clinical tool to examine both the composition and function of bodily tissues.
