Migraines

Migraines are intense, beating headaches often accompanied by nausea, dizziness, and with increased sensitivity to light, sound or smells. These attacks can live anywhere for a few hours to several days. Some people experience an aura beforehand – sensory disturbances like seeing flashes of light or having trouble speaking. Migraines are not fully understood, but they are considered results from a mixture of genetics, environment and lifestyle. Some foods or smells may act as a trigger. Treatment includes pain relievers, anti-nausea drugs and triptan, which work on serotonin receptors. Preventive strategies focus on lifestyle habits – such as maintaining good sleep, managing stress and avoiding triggers. This session explains that using medicines along with healthy daily habits can lower how often migraines happen and make them less painful.
