Neural cell repopulation
Nerve cell repopulation is an exciting process that uses stem cells to replace brain cells that have died or damaged. This approach consists of nerve stem or ancestral cells in the laboratory and then implanted into the injured area of the brain – either by injecting them directly to the location or in fluid locations of the brain where they can travel to the damaged area. Once, these cells turn into a variety of brain cells, including neurons and auxiliary glial cells, and help in the reconstruction of connections between nerve cells. Scientists can survive and increase the utility by putting it in auxiliary materials such as hydrogel or using growth‑promoting factors or genetic tweaks. Although experiments in animals have shown promising results, the treatment of human brain injuries and neurodegenerative diseases still requires more research to make these methods safe and effective.
