Neurobiology
Neurobiology studies how the nervous system works, looking closely at its basic parts and how they function. Scientists study molecular and genetic bases of the brain activity, with the prospect of explaining the origin of neurological diseases like epilepsy and neurodegenerative diseases. The session includes interactions among neurons, glial cells and microenvironment, demonstrating how they influence the growth, plasticity, and regeneration of the brain. This is helping in the adverse impact of environmental factors such as stress and toxins on brain function, contributing to neurological and psychiatric disorders. With advancements in brain imaging and CRISPR gene editing, the field is going at a quick pace – offering deeper understanding of both normal brain processes and the disease mechanisms.
