Neurological Complications Of Other Pediatric Diseases Conferences

Neurological complications of other pediatric diseases highlight brain and nerve problems that can develop as an illness effect of childhood diseases such as cancer, cystic fibrosis, and sickle cell anemia. Treatment such as chemotherapy and radiation can lead to nervous damage, which can cause numbness and tingling (peripheral neuropathy), muscle weakness (myopathy), or brain dysfunction (encephalopathy). In cystic fibrosis, lack of some enzymes can affect neuron development, slow language, motor and cognitive development. Sickle cell anemia can reduce the supply of oxygen to the brain cells, resulting in seizures, mini-strokes and delays in movement and speech development. Because many childhood diseases can harm the nervous system, children are required to carefully monitor and respond quickly to the first signals of neurological issues.
