Neurology Consultation
A neurology consultation is a specialized medical visitwith a neurologist, a doctor who treats the brain, spinal and nerves related problems. People are usually referred to for a neurologist if they have persistent headaches, seizures, dizziness, memory loss, numbness, muscle weakness, or disturbance with balance and movement.
During consultation, neurologist will ask questions about the patient’s health history, current symptoms and any previous diseases or injuries. They can also conduct a neurological examination, which examines things such as reflex, coordination, muscle strength, vision and mental vigilance.
Sometimes, doctors can ask for the testing such as MRI, CT scan, EEG, or blood test to better understand the problem. After the evaluation, the neurologist will explain the diagnosis and suggest a treatment plan, which may include the drug, lifestyle changes, or therapy.
