Neurophysiology
Neurophysiology focuses on how the nervous system works including brain, spinal cord and nerves. Neurophysiology studies the electrical processes of neurons that control learning, memory, behavior and perception. This session focuses on how neurophysiologists use tools like EEGs to record brain waves and diagnose conditions such as epilepsy, brain tumours and memory problems. It also explores neuroplasticity – how the brain changes with experience – and how it plays a role in recovery and adaptation. Major talks will cover subjects such as vascular dementia, psychiatry disorder, functional seizures and cerebrospinal fluid flow in dementia. By connecting biology to psychology, Neurophysiology provides insight into both health and disease, carrying forward modern treatments. The session emphasizes how research conclusions can transfer from basic science to clinical applications that improve the care of the patient.
