Neuroplasticity

Neuroplasticity is the brain’s ability to change and reorganize its structure, connections, and functions in response to learning, experience, or injury. This process enables us to acquire new abilities, remember things and recover from injury. It operates on the principle “Use it or improve it”: when two brain cells burn together, the bond between the two becomes stronger – this is the basis of learning and memory. The brain can also recreate itself after injury by forming new pathways or restructuring its makeup. Adaptations in our surroundings – like learning a new profession, taking medication, or recovering from an organ loss – may ignite this rewiring. Although neuroplasticity is natural, it could be enhanced through exercises, mental stimulation and rich experience.
