Primary injury
The primary injury refers to the original damage caused by a painful phenomenon to cells, tissues, or organs, such as car accidents, falls, sports accidents, or workplace incidents. This immediate damage can be mild or severe, affecting both body and brain. The severity of the injury depends on the nature of trauma, its location and range and the overall health of the individual. While a broken bone can cause primary injury, it can also give rise to further needs – such as surgery – or trigger neurological issues or psychological trauma, which requires both medical and mental health aid. Its effect can vary greatly from person to another and it may last for a long time. Treatment options include rest, physical or professional therapy, medications, psychological counseling, orthopedic surgery and rehabilitation. Vocational therapy care is required to manage pain, prevent further damage and support recovery in a safe environment.
