Regional metabolic rate of glucose (rCMRglc) Conference
Home/ Scientific Sessions / Regional metabolic rate of glucose (rCMRglc) Conference
The regional metabolic rate (RCMRGLC) of glucose is an estimate of the amount of glucose being metabolized in individual parts of the body. Glucose, an important fuel, splits into distinct areas and metabolism, and it indicates the pace of how active those areas are. Body size, age, sex, diet, stress, temperature and exercise all influence how fast glucose is metabolized. Hormones like insulin, glucagon, adrenaline, and cortisol assist with glucose metabolism regulation – cells utilize insulin to take in glucose, while others manage storage or usage shifts. Pathologies like diabetes or thyroid disease can alter RCMRGLC. Knowledge of these regional variations is necessary to track health, avoid metabolic disease and direct individual lifestyle and treatment options.
