Social Cognition
Social cognition is the process through which people understand and interact with others. This includes how we notice, think and explain social signals such as facial expression, body language, or voice tone. These skills help us recognize emotions, estimate intentions, and react to situations that fit the situation. Social cognition also directs how we first create impressions, decide and make relationships. This team plays a big role in work, sympathy and communication, allowing people to cooperate and live together in society. The difference in social cognition can explain why people see the same situation in different ways, often affected by culture or personal experience. The study of social cognition is important to understand both normal behavior and conditions such as autism or schizophrenia.
