Vascular Neurology

Vascular neurology is a unique discipline that specializes in diagnosis and management of brain and spinal disease as a result of abnormalities in blood circulation. It specializes in stroke, transient ischemic attack (mini-stroke), cerebral aneurysm, carotid artery disease, venous blood clots and malfunctions of spinal arteries. Vascular neurologists use advanced sophisticated imaging methods like angiography, MRI and CT scan to recognize these abnormalities. These then develop individual treatment plans that can involve lifestyle modification, medication, minimum invasive treatment or surgery. They collaborate with rehabilitation teams to assist the patients in regaining motor, cognitive and sensory functions. By using extensive diagnosis, preventive measures and analogy care, vascular neurology seeks to minimize the impact of these conditions and assist the patient to recover .
