About
Prof. Dr. Jorge Uré is a distinguished Argentine neurologist, neuroscientist, and essayist, born in Buenos Aires in 1948 and currently residing in Monte Grande, Buenos Aires Province. He holds a degree in Medicine and Surgery from Spain and is a Senior Member of the American Academy of Neurology and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine (UK). He served four terms as President of the Argentine Society of Neuropsychology.
He studied medicine at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), where he completed a distinguished doctoral thesis on akinetic mutism. He completed his neurology residency at Policlínico Castex and spent decades at Hospital Borda, retiring as Head of the Neurology Service and Associate Professor of Neurology at UBA.
Dr. Uré has published internationally on epilepsy, cognitive decline, frontotemporal dementias, and schizophrenia. He collaborated with renowned researchers including Michel Baudry, André Olivier, and Felipe Quesney. His academic contributions include clinical studies and groundbreaking neuropsychological research.
Beyond medicine, he authored and co-authored several books of essays, poetry, and fiction. He has received numerous national and international awards for his scientific and medical work and was awarded a CONICET/INIBIBB fellowship in 1981 for experimental neurochemistry research in epilepsy.
