Tingzhong Yang

Biography:

Dr. Yang is based at the Research Center for Digital Health Theory and Management, Zhejiang University National Health Big Data Institute. He served as an advisor to the WHO on tobacco control for health profession students and contributed to the CRD section of the WHO Global Action Plan for NCD Prevention and Control. He is an external faculty affiliate at the Injury Control Research Center at West Virginia University and was appointed an academician of the Russian Academy of Social and Fundamental Sciences. Dr. Yang has authored over 130 international and 180 Chinese journal publications. His tobacco control work was reported by WHO and highlighted during Zhejiang University’s 120th anniversary. His research interests include mental health, with a focus on the social mechanisms of stress. He proposed the social stress theory and uncertainty stress theory, developed perceived and uncertainty stress measurement tools, and created a culturally-based stress management model. His work in social and behavioral sciences focuses on culturally grounded models and best practices. More recently, he established a theoretical framework for digital health behavior and proposed related models. He has also published several books, including Health Research: Social and Behavioral Theory and Methods.
