Biography:
Born in Polla on 25.08.1948, he was graduated in Medicine summa with laude and publication of the thesis by University of Naples on 1972. By the same University received the postgraduate title of Specialist in Nervous and Mental Diseases in 1975. In the years 1973-75 he worked at Institute de Neurochimie, Strasbourg ( prof. P. Mandel). He was assistant professor at Dept Neurology, University of Naples, and from 1980 at University of Siena, Medical School, where he was appointed as associate professor and full professor of Neurology in 1990. Here he was director of the Neurology and Neurometabolic Diseases Clinic, Director of the Dept of Neurosciences, vice-Dine of the Faculty, vice Rector of the University. He was President of the Italian Society of Neurology; chairmen of the SCientific Committee of the European Academy of Neurology, Editor in chief of the Neurological Sciences, a Springer Journal from 2011 to 2022. Actually he is Chairmen of the Specialist group on Rare Neurologic Diseases of the WFN. His main research interest was on Rare Neurologic and neurodegenerative and neurometabolic diseases. He published several books and more than 500 articles in the international journal.
